Hi All,
I just wanted to share good news (since I always liked to read good news when I was on the boards worrying about the upcoming birth of my son).
I had a due date of 8/7 and a planned c/s on 8/5 due to breech.
My water broke late late 7/31 and we went to the hospital. I had eaten, so they had us wait until about 5:45 AM and did a c/s.
I was upset about having a c/s (didn't want one) but had known he was breech since 34 weeks, so had some time to come to terms with it.
They took me to the OR, I had the spinal, it was pretty painless. I didn't get sick at all. I was totally numb from the ribs down. They got him out within about 30 minutes (went very quickly) and he screamed first thing. He was given a score of 9/9, he weighed 6 lbs, 4 oz.
I had wanted them to put him on my chest and we tried, but there just wasn't room. DH held him and we sang him happy birthday. They had me stitched up quickly (another 20 - 30 minutes, which flew by) and I was back in my room. I did accept some drugs for nausea a few hours later. They gave me intravenous Tylenol for the first day or so. I didn't want to be on opiates, so I have been taking two tylenol and two ib profin every 4 hours since then.
It hurt to get up and around at first, but it wasn't awful. I get migraines, and a migraine is worse.
When I came home, sleeping and dressing is about as uncomfortable as it was at 9 months pregnant.
It is now one week PP and I am still taking the OTC meds, sleeping is comfortable and only walking longer distances hurts.
I just wanted to let those FTMs out there who are scared know - it wasn't that bad at all. I would do it again.
:-)
