Sleeping too much?

So my DD sleeps a whole lot! I'm going to post her usual schedule, and maybe you can you can compare it to your LOs.
Wakes up - between 5 and 6
Naps right after
Gets up between 8-9 for next bottle
Stays up for a little and then squeezing in a cat nap.
Bottle at 12-1
Naps for about 2 or 3 hours.
Gets up to eat around 3 or 4
Plays
Sometimes takes a short nap
Eats at 6 or 7
Sleeps an hour
Wakes to eat
And then back to bed between 9:30-10

I just feel as though she is sleeping entirely too much. What do you think?

Re: Sleeping too much?

  • I forgot to mention that she is 15 weeks old.

  • We have almost an identical schedule but the longest stretch I get at night is 4 hours. . We are 16 weeks
  • Ok! Thanks!
  • Before Connor's sleep regression, he slept from 10pm until 10-11am. Maybe stirring once at 2am for his pacifier.

Now it is asleep at 8pm, up at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am, 8am, 10am. Sometime between noon and 7pm he has two or three less than 45 minute naps. Most times during the hours of 9pm-12am I don't even make him go to sleep unless he is really tired anymore.

  • I JUST got my LO on a flexible schedule. He takes 2 long naps per day (about 2-2 1/2 hrs long) and 1 to 2 catnaps (45 min to 1 hr). Today one of his longer naps was 3 hours. He is 15 weeks. I don't think your LO is sleeping too much at all. My LO is so much happier when he gets his naps. Plus this will change and it has changed a lot as he gets older. He was going though a phase where he didn't sleep at all during the day to only sleeping an hour or 2.

  • This is very similar to my DS2 and he STTN and is also 15 weeks. My DS1 didn't ever want to sleep so I definitely thought something was wrong with this baby, but pedi assured me that if he is eating well and is engaged and active when he's awake (which he is) then just embrace that he's a good sleeper who needs more sleep than his brother. So that's what I do!

  • Thanks for making me feel better!!

This is our schedule too if you throw in one more feeding at 3:30 AM. DD is also quite the morning person and is awake from 6-8AM. Sounds normal to me. :)
