Can you say awkward??

I took the kids to a splash pad in a nearby town. While there, a girl flags me down by name. I have NO clue who the girl was and hours later, I still don't know!! My friend asked why I didn't just tell her that I was drawing a blank, but this rarely happens to me and I froze. It is going to bother me until I figure it out.

    This happened to me once at a bar. A girl waved at me and I guess I had a look so she asked, "Do you remember me?"

    "Errr. Paulina?"
    "No.....Laura! Remember?..we worked together!"

    Then I remembered. Oops!

    This happens to me quite often.  We move a lot and I meet a lot of new people.  I had a woman come up to me at a children's event  recently and start talking to me.  I knew I knew her from somewhere but couldn't put my finger on where I knew her from.  I didn't want to admit that I didn't know who she was either.  A few hours later it hit me that I know her from the gym.

    I just go with the smile and "how are you?" and try to get them to talk more so I can tell who the hell they are. :)

    I was able to discern she had a six month old and one older daughter. And seriously - I still have NO clue.

    Haha, oh man! Last year I waved to a girl I used to work with waaay back in high school. She came over, but I could tell she had no idea who I was. I purposely didn't give her any hints and watched her squirm for, like, 10 minutes.... it was amazing.
