Our LO has always used Enfamil...except for two awful days that I forgot to go to the store so we used some Similac the hosptial had given us. LO was not a fan.
I think it is yours and your baby's preference. All are different. But if you switch, give the babe a chance to get used to the new before you switch again.
Our hospital gives out Similac. We have or LO on Similac Sensitive becuase of her reflux, and my intolerance to milk (Children's hospital said that it's worth putting her on a lactose sensitive one, if I'm allergic to milk, just in case). My LO has never had anything else, and seems to do well with it. When I was trying to decide, our pediatrician said that they are all so closely regulated that they are really all very similar.
I've only tried Enfamil with my DD. The hospital did give us a choice. I went with Enfamil because at the time I had coupons for them. We started her on Enfamil Newborn and then a couple of months later put her on Enfamil Infant. We haven't had any problems with it.
I do not know to what extent this is true or accurate, but there are (conflicting) studies that show that the formulas that use palm olein (Enfamil, Target, others) cause a drastic reduction in bone mineral content and density compared to those that do not (Similac). The most cited report shows significantly lower density at 3 and 6 months old. I did a bunch more searching and saw a later report (less cited) that says the density and content may not be different by age 2-3 years.
So, Google "palm olein in formula" and interpret it how you will. I had always planned to save money and use Target brand, but have instead been using Similac. Might switch at 6 months.
You might have to try a couple to see what works. Their stomaches are very sensitive and inmature for a while (4-6 weeks at least?). Mine had all kinds of gas issues with all of them.
With my DS, he was on Similac and we weren't given a choice. With the girls, we were given a choice and I specified Similac (or maybe I just told them, not sure if they offered the choice, it's all fuzzy now). Why did I choose Similac? Because I work for the company that makes it and get a discount. With twins I need it! Anyway, don't know if there is much difference in either. My kids did/do well on Similac.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

I used organic Similac with DD#1 and Vermont Organics. She did great on both - very little spit up.
I started DD#2 on same until she was diagnosed with MSPI. Now she is on Similac Alimentium. And is doing great on that.
