CF gym

I'm 26 weeks and live in Houston Tx.. It's about 90 degrees now daily and humid. My Crossfit gym decided this week that Wednesdays we would be a "hot box" aka they are closing our garage doors I decrease airflow the concept of this training reminds me of "hot yoga". I'm really concerned because I'm hot ENOUGH with the doors open! What would y'all do? Go and try to work out? Stand in front of the only fan the whole time and try to workout that way? I'm usually in front of a fan the whole time anyway since about 4 weeks ago.. It's hot in Houston. Anyway... My concern is safety. And I'm just not sure what to think or do about the situation.

That is NOT safe and frankly very stupid. I'd look for a different, air conditioned box. Talk to your coaches, make sure they are aware that overheating could cause birth defects. The a/c is always on in our gym and I also go in the early morning before the North Carolina sun is up and beating hard.

  • um that's dangerous.  I mean, we have a hardcore trainer who scoffs when we use fans for hero workouts, but they would never restrict peoples abilities to cool off if they needed too.

that being said I'd workout, but I'm a crazy person.

  • If it was me, I would just make that day my off day. Don't go. If your hot and out of breath, imagine how your baby feels......

Agree!  You should not be overheating or even getting close.  I do CF combined with other exercises, but it's not in a "box."  We have A/C and several fans in the warehouse, but it is still hot.  I dowse myself with water throughout the workout, drink lots of water and stay in front of the fans.  I can feel it very quickly when I'm getting too hot.  I'd take off that day.  It's not worth it.

  • I'd skip it. You don't want you body temp getting too high. And that sounds like a recipe for disaster.
  • I would be skipping those workouts personally. That doesn't sound safe or enjoyable even if I wasn't pregnant!
