Babies: 3 - 6 Months

FF mamas

DD is still primarily BF but we will be making the switch to formula. I have a few bottles, but need to purchase more and am not sure if I should only buy 4 oz or buy both 4 oz and 8 oz. Right now, if she takes a formula bottle she takes 4 oz. At what age will she be taking 6-8 oz? TIA!

Re: FF mamas

  • I would say get the 8 oz (we use the 9oz Tommee Tippees) b/c you'll use those more. IE: You can get 4-8 oz in it, vs she'll outgrow the 4 oz.  My 4 month old does between 5-6 oz at a feeding right now (18 wks).

  • My 4 month old does about 6 oz per feeding.  I say get the larger bottles since you'd only use the small bottles for a little while.  We use Dr. Browns.

  • Thanks girls! All great info. I guess she'll be taking more ounces pretty soon so we'll only get the 8oz. :)

  • I would say buy 8 oz ers.  We love the Dr. Brown's Wide Base 8 oz bottles!  My LO had bad reflux, and does great with these!
  • We use the VentAire Advanced 9oz bottles the most. LO has been drinking 6 to 8 oz since he was 8 weeks, so those 7oz bottles were a PITA because we had to make 2 more oz every other feeding. He's still drinking the same amount at 19 weeks fwiw.
