Tonight was supposed to be my first date night with DH since LO was born. We have no family in the area so these nights are hard to come by. We got tickets to a concert tonight-- we've had this planned for months, since before LO was born.

Our babysitter is sick (in the hospital with contractions at 28 weeks). She offered her friend as back up, who I know and like pretty well. My older kids will be home and they are totally self sufficient and very protective of LO, so there's no doubt that if he cries or if anything happens, I'll get a phone call right away.

So should I go? Or stay home? I don't want to feel like I'd leave LO with anyone that volunteers, but I also know the back-up and know it'll be a long time before I have another chance to do something like this. Wwyd?

    If the backup babysitter is someone you already know and trust, I think it's fine to go. Especially since you also have older kids who could sort of help out. Like you said, you don't know when your next chance to go out will be.

    I like her and know her (from DH's office) but have never seen her interact with kids. I'm nervous to leave LO but maybe it's just because its the first time.

    Definitely go. Your friend who you trust suggested her, and you know her, and your older kids will be there. Everything will be fine!

    Absolutely go! The realistic worst that could happen is that your baby is a little fussier than normal without mamma. Your kiddos will be fine and get the added bonus of seeing mom and dad have a fun night out together- I remember as a kid I loved it when I saw my parents "being in love" and doing things together, even if that meant we were home with a babysitter. It makes them feel like the family unit is safe.

    So I can't tell if it was a success or not... Traffic was awful, and we got to our seats am hour late. Thankfully, it hadn't started. The while stadium smelled like weed and nachos, which was awful to my pregnant nose. The concert itself was amazing...they played all the hits. It ended at 1130ish and we got stuck in traffic, and got home at 2. LO was wide awake when I got home. I paid the sitter, fed him, and slept til 6. DH is off so I laid out lo's clothes and left everyone still in bed. Win?

    I'm glad you decided to go! And I'm sorry I'm late but your pregnant? :)
