sitting at the table

What does your LO sit in at the table?

At home, DS is in the booster part of the FP space saver high chair. He sits at the table, not with the tray.

When we eat out, he sits in a highchair, but he is getting to big for some of them. He does not do well in restaurant booster seats.

Just wondering what others are doing and trying to decide when to transition to a regular chair.

Re: sitting at the table

  • High chair, but she would be fine in a chair. The thing is, the high chair keeps her contained(children do not walk around my house with food) since she would get up 500x. Also I'm able to keep her out of my hair if I need to do something.

  • Oh, at restaurants sometimes she just sits in the booth with me. I don't think her and a booster would go well.

We did the booster in the booth a couple of times, and he had a hard time with it.

And to your earlier response -- I've kept him in the high chair for the same reason. I don't want him to be able to get down.

DS loves the boosters at restaurants.  They go over much better than a high chair.  His high chair was convertible, so it's strapped to a chair at our table at home.  However, he more often sits/stands/kneels on our bench seat or the other chair at our table.

Does he get up at home when he's on the bench or chair? Was it a smooth transition?

  • At home always in his high chair. When he hears breakfast, lunch or dinner he comes running to his high chair :)

When we are out at a restaurant we use both high chairs and booster seats. I agree though some high chairs his legs are too long. I think he does pretty well in the booster.

All of this! I like that I can clean up after a meal if she is being a slow poke and finishing her food, instead of having to babysit her if she were in a regular chair.

We will move her from the high chair when the baby needs it to start sitting at the table with us.

    Same thing.
I'D like to add that even though she is in the booster, we still strap her in, too.
