  • I hope it's all cooked away as the sauce was still runny and they claim it to be " champagne butter sauce" ... I hope all the liquid that was there is not champagne :(
  • Champagne butter sauce sound amazing.
It was indeed absolutely delish !!! :)
  • Keyword...COOKED. When alcohol is cooked it evaporates.

  • I didn't freak out when I had my favorite dessert (bread pudding in a rum sauce), so I'd say you're safe. Just as everyone has indicated, most alcohol is cooked off in the process.

  • So, this definitely isn't anything to worry about, and pps are right that even if you drank the champagne, your baby would be fine. However, the whole "alcohol burns off during cooking" thing is an oft-repeated partial myth.  Some of the alcohol will burn off, but how much will greatly differ depending on what you're eating. There's a lot of articles if you search. One snippet from the Sun Sentinel:

Exactly how much alcohol will remain in your pan depends on so many factors that a general answer for all recipes is impossible. In 1992 nutritionists at the University of Idaho, Washington State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture measured the amounts of alcohol before and after cooking two burgundy-laden dishes similar to boeuf bourguignonne and coq au vin, plus a casserole of scalloped oysters made with sherry. They found that anywhere from 4 percent to 49 percent of the original alcohol remained in the finished dishes, depending on the type of food and the cooking method.

  • Wow some people are rude. It's ok to be concerned when you think you made a mistake. Over reacting would be going to the ER or something right away. The point is, you're fine, and don't worry about your meal.
  • Oh I didn't see in her post that she thought she gave her baby FAS... I saw that she was concerned about accidentally having alcohol in her food.

I can't remember exactly where I head this but the person said "Were you carded when you ordered it?" If not then you should be ok.
Right, this or, "Were you drunk after you ate or drank it?"

I guess I should really be tripping out about that half glass of wine I had the other night.
