Acupuncture update

We have had some discussions about Acupuncture on this board before. My RE recommends it. He literally told me " Have no clue why it works but the stats are there especially when doing fertility treatments." His office recommends two that are close by me. I just picked the closest

So I started acupuncture 3 weeks ago.I was going to wait until later in the summer, but I decided to go ahead and start because my body is so jacked up from the miscarriage. Thought it might help with my healing. I don't believe in "chi" or the spiritual aspects of acupuncture. I do believe however that western medicine doesn't have all the answers. And I read up on the stats when dealing with fertility issues and talked to a couple I knew it worked for. You are supose to go 2x per week for three months to get your body ready for IUI's/IVF.

All that to say... it has been pretty great. It is very relaxing. My husband says I am calmer LOL. I am drinking a tea of chinese herbs which is nasty but I can deal with it. I bought a 10 session package which wasn't cheap. Hoping my insurance will cover some of it.

Anyone else doing acupuncture?

Yes, I am doing acupunture. After my miscarriage, I talked to my RE (I moved few months ago so I changed RE but they belong to the same clinic, just in different location). He said that he doesn't think I need to have ferility treatment and suggested I try acunputre. I know few friends of mine went to this doctor and they really like her. My friend used to have irregular period after she went to her for few months, now she became regular.

So I started couple months ago, my period is always regular, I can't tell what kind of differences have that made. I only do it once a week I simply don't have the time to do it. I guess I have to believe in this sicne I am Chinese Wink

My thought is I will do it for couple more months if nothing happens, I will probably go back to my RE and do another injectable IUI. I don't know I am postive some day and some day I just don't know if I will ever get there. But at least I am happy that I am back to my normal cycle fairly quicly.

I was doing acupuncture but ran out of coverage and just can't afford it oop. years ago through injury I was unable to lift my arms above my head and difficulty wiping my tush, because I lacked the strength and the ability. After a year or chiro & massage 3x a week i was better but still struggling, I went to one week of super intense acupuncture when I visited my mom. I was in super pain at the end and then a day later I had full movement back in my arms and have not been restricted since and that was about 15 years ago.

I totally believe in acupuncture

I'm doing acupuncture. Had started going to this practitioner a couple of years ago for neck and back pain and was terrified that she would do something to make me pregnant since she's a fertility specialist! So glad that I had already built a relationship with her so when we decided to TTC, it was natural for me to go to her -- this time to help my body and mind be in blissful harmony to create just the right environment for the sperm and ovum to meet. I've been going to her for three months; we started TTC last month. So far, it has helped keep me calm and relaxed. She's also a good person to share my anxiety and frustrations with. Overall, a definite help.

Hoping it works for you, too.

I'm starting acu as well, probably in September. I've heard really great things, and a good friend recommends it for fertility!

yep the tea is gross... but hey if it will help I will try it! I am suppose to drink it 2x per day but I only do it once....

after seeing 2 different Doctors and no success .. i went for acupuncture bec of a kidney problem ( pain and lots of infections) she ended up doing reflexology.. 2 months later i had no more kidney issues and was pregnant. By the way we had already been trying for 1 & 1/2 year. I live in NY so if anyone is interested i'll be happy to share her info with u. Good luck everyone!!

I did it for about two months. I stopped after my hysteroscopy. I couldn't afford it really. My RE said not to drink the tea because it was unpredictable but he was good with the acupuncture. I think it probably helps along with the other things they encourage like eating healthy.
