Help! Frustrated and Overwhelmed

Why is it that every time I go to the doctor my heart rate is high like 130+ and my pressure is always at 141/74, but as soon as I get home it is like 90-102 and my pressure is 130/70. The doctor wants to put me on a beta-blocker that she isn't too sure that I need. The skepticism in her voice and the look on her face showed she wasn't at all sure. Then she informs me that the meds I'm already on causes heart palpatations. She wants me to see a cardiologist. I told her that when I get home my blood pressure would be lower and my heart rate, and sure enough it was and has been since my doctor visit.

They took a thyroid panel and all was normal with that. Also I've been battling with maintaining my glucose levels. When I say I'm so frustrated and overwhelmed, I truly am.

  • I have the same blood pressure issue as well. Last time I was pregnant my doctor had met take it at home 3 times a day every day. If it ever got to a certain level at home I was to call the doctor asap. I have had white coat hypertension for years and years. See if your doctor would agree to you taking it at home for a few weeks before the referal and meds.

  • Have they ever taken at the end of your appt? Maybe once you are settled and have all your questions asked and hear the heartbeat it would be better?
  • Is this with a digital blood pressure monitor? Mine is always sky high with those, but if I get them to do it the old fashioned way, I am fine.
