sitting up

Can ur LO sit up and when did they start

Re: sitting up

  • He started to sit up about a month ago. Though I had to hold his waist for a long time. Right now he can sit up by himself if his hands are holding something... and only for like a few seconds before his head seems like it is about to bobble off his shoulders. His head stops bobbling when I hold him at the waist though.

  • Not without support.  But my girls were a month early, so I figure it'll take them a little longer.  My DS didn't sit up on his own until after he could roll, and he didn't roll until about 5.5 - 6 months old.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

  • Oh, I do the lay and pull sometimes. I saw the 4 month developmental video on youtube (from pathways) and compared some stuff.. lol I know I am not supposed to. They do some tests on that video.. I wanted to see if his head would lag back and it did until he was about 3.5 months.

  • I do the lay and pull also..she can sit supported..head to ground between legs unsupported..I only ask because I saw a video on I stage am of 4 month old sitting unsupported..didn't know of we were behind..she doesn't roll either..she gets to her side but er arm doesn't allow her to roll uet
  • I think sitting unsupported at this age is really early. This is one of the reasons why they have that 'wait to feed solids until 6 months' because by 6 months they should start being able to do that, so you have 2 more months of practicing.

My son has done a lot of things early, but he still has not rolled. I was worried at first, then I told myself he has been spoiling me by being early for most things. His arm is in the way, I have a video of last night where he was about 95% of the way rolled... his bottom half did... just that arm man. lol. Also it seems like he wants to crawl and walk before he can roll too... he sticks his butt in the air and gets on his knees when I put him down for tummy time.. and he would much rather be standing and trying to walk on laps and the floor than back/tummy time.

Don't worry, you have a lot of time.

  • Clara can only sit up with support, but the amount of support she needs is less and less. I think it is super early for them to be able to sit 100% by themselves.

  • My little guy is only 3months and 1 week old, so he is nowhere close. Rolling over may be coming soon though....

  • @JordynLeighx3 I feel like I haven't seen u post much lately..everything good?
  • No unsupported sitting here yet, I think thst is more of a 6 month milestone. I am much more laid back about milestones this time around. My first seemed to be behind in every physical milestone, and didn't walk until 17 months, and I totally stressed myself out about it. Once she started walking she caught up to her peers in no time. So this time I am trying to just enjoy him while he is immobile and unable to get to anything in my currently too messy of a house. Once he is on the move I have to start cleaningcleaning more :)

  • LO is 5 months and he can sit up. He can spend about 20 minutes before he gets tired and lays back down
