Just say no to babys R US !!!! vent

I would like to give a warning everyone that if you plan on getting anything bigger then what you can fit in your car that is already at the store from Babies R US, don't do it. Save yourself  and those around you. My MIL got us our whole nursery set for us, convertible lifetime crib, dresser, changing table it beautiful and exactly what i wanted.
it was ordered 3 months ago
it sat in the store for a month before they got around to telling us it was there
she paid for the delivery and set up of it

get a date of July 20 for it all to be done...i sit ...i wait....nothing
It is now August 8th it was supposed to be here between 10 am ans 12 noon. The man who works for the company that BRUs contracts out to do these things calls at 10:30 am and asks if we could just do this on sat because he is in ocean city.. We say no (heads up, this company also does the same thing for IKEA so keep that in mind as well.)
it is now 4:48pm
i call BRU to confirm that all the things we ordered are there and they say yes.
I just got a call telling me that they only have two the the three and that one of the boxes has been damaged... a box that they have had for a month and that we have had several conversations about.
The delivery company and the BRU's keep passing the blame back and forth and both customer service teams have been very unhelpful or just never call back . If it was a small amount of stuff or a small price tag maybe i would care less, but its over $3,000 in things for my daughters room that i cant finish with out. my due date may not be tomorrow but its not like i have months to play this game. I know this may seem silly to some but i am so frustrated. Moms  and Dads to be make lists of things for others to buy, and that brings in a lot of money for these stores. I feel we would be treated better then this...

  • Call your local news. Most of them have an investigative/"On your side" team. Or go higher up the food chain and do not put up with "they will call you back".

  • Update : I have a crib and my dresser . Delivery and setup are free now and I am checking if anything went on sale. When the delivery person came he said the manager was shaking in fear so I feel that I will ask for that stroller... Thanks ladies!
  • We had ordered all our nursery furniture from BRU and DH picked it up. Part of the crib was damaged, but they said they would replace it. Things got frustrating when they called to say the new piece was in and DH took the van from work to go get it only to find out the person made a mistake and it wasn't really in. We waited another couple of weeks and it finally came in, but very annoying.

    Sorry to hear your experience sucked too.

  • Ugh sorry you are going through this. I really hate BRU honestly. If only there was a BBB closer to us!! I got my crib and dresser from BBB even though they have the same one at BRU because BBB is just so much better!

  • My husband and I ordered our crib from Babies R Us. It took less than a week for them to get it in and we picked it up. It then sat in our garage for a couple of months because a friend was staying in our guest room which is now our nursery. When the time finally came to put it together my husband noticed one of the pieces was broken. He called a different Babies R Us that was closer to us and they ordered a new crib and just swapped out the part that was damaged rather than exchanging the entire crib. Everything was done in a very timely manner and we were happy with how the situation was handled. Just offering a different perspective. Sorry that you've had such a headache with them.
  • That is so frustrating! My MIL seems to be the queen of making sure she advocates for herself as a consumer and gets all of what she can when it comes to deals/discounts/benefits if something goes wrong with a purchase. I would write a letter/email to the company in addition to some of the other things PPs have suggested. I would document the situation via email for several reasons. Keep it straight to the point by describing the play-by-play of what has occurred with your order. Express your frustration as clearly as you can without using nasty language (keep it professionally angry/upset). My MIL has done this on many occasions when she has been upset with an order or purchase, and she has received things like large discounts, coupons, and items for free along with letters of apology for their errors.

    I hope you get what you need before too long!

  • We're in the middle of a similar issue with Ashley furniture. Some dumbass only put in half of the order for our sectional. So, we have half of a sectional that was delivered a month late, and they had to re-order the couch part and the ottoman. In all likelihood, we won't be getting it before DS is born.

    I had to put my bitch pants on to get the situation handled. I reamed the rep that placed the order for being an idiot, as well as their deliver company for delivering what they had a month later than it was scheduled to be. 

    I didn't give it as long as you, though. After a week of back and forth, I told the Ashley rep and manager that if they didn't get the other pieces yesterday and refund our shipping and delivery fees, that they would be refunding us the entire cost and giving us the couch. They ordered.

    I agree with PP - take it up to management. If that doesn't get it done, take it higher. Also - PLEASE leave reviews. Not enough people do this. If you love the furniture, rate it, but share your experience and suggest people get their furniture elsewhere. 

    I'm really sorry that you're experiencing this. I can't finish getting my stuff in the living room together without the storage ottoman. Know that you're not alone.

  • So sorry! My mom just had a terrible BRU customer service interaction about our crib. It was really bad. I don't like the store actually and wish there were more baby store options!
  • That sucks! We got both cribs (DS is still in one) through Amazon, you can get same brands, great customer service and delivered to your door. If it comes damaged or wrong color (happened once) they were back to pick it up the next day.
