Things you never thought you'd do...

A comment by @letsgobowlingx - "The things we do!  Haha!" - got me thinking that IF has definitely pushed me outside of my previous comfort zone.

So, what was something that, prior to IF, you never thought you'd do that now is no big deal?

For me, it was the transvaginal ultrasound.  A year ago, my then-pregnant best friend was telling me about her 8-week ultrasound and I was like "Oh, I would never do that!  It sounds gross/painful!"  Lo and behold, a year later, I have 2 appointments with the vag cam every month.  I can even help the nurse find my wandering left ovary.

Come on, entertain me.

    I never thought I'd be checking my cervix and paying close attention to CM!

    I get excited to give myself shots.

    The u/s one is a good one. No biggie for me anymore, and I think it's pretty funny when the med students come in to watch. They are SO nervous, lol!
    Me: 37, DH: 35 :: TCC since 2/11 SA: Perfect! CD3  HSG = Blocked Right Tube
    April- Femara 2.5mg + Trigger + IUI = BFN   May- Femara 5mg = CX - No Response on Left = BFN
    June- Femara 7.5mg + Trigger + IUI = BFN  August- Lap & Hysteroscopy = Blocked & Partially Blocked Tubes
    September- Femara 5mg = CX - No Response on Left = BFN  October- 100mg Clomid + Trigger + TI = BFN
    IVF # 1: Stims 11/30 ER 12/12/12! (10R, 10M, 8F, 2T, 6 F) :: Beta #1- 176  c/p @ 4w4d
    FET #1 February 26th :: Lost 4 to Thaw, Transferred 2 = BFFN
    IVF # 2 Stims 5/10 ER 5/21 (15R, 13M, 13F, 2T, 7F- 6d3 & 1d5) :: Beta # 1- 15 c/p @ 4w
    FET #2 Cancelled, Right Tube Developed a Hydro  8/28 Hydro & Scar Tissue Removed  Cleared for FET
    FET #2.2 Scheduled for September 20th
    2 Thawed, 2 Transferred! Beta #1- 96, Beta #2 906! :: EDD June 10th
    2015- 2 failed FET. We are done
    SURPRISE! BFP 8/8/16   EDD 4/1/17

    TTC #1 since November 2011
    Dx: Unexplained Infertility, probable endometriosis
    Feb-April 2013: Femara + TI: BFN
    May - September 2013:  Follistim + Ovidrel + IUI#1-4 = BFN
    IVF # 1 November 2013: transferred 1 perfect blast = BFN
    IVF # 2 April 2014: Endo scrape, transferred 2 blasts = BFP!! (first ever!), CP
    FET #1 June 2014: transferred 2 blasts = BFFN
    New Dx: Repeat Implantation Failure
     IVF # 3 November 2014 = BFP!!  Beta #1 9dp5t 272  Beta # 2 11dp5dt 626

    Oooh, good one @pvf08; I will second the blood draw thing.  Up until IF, I used to cry (involuntarily) every time I had blood drawn.  I felt like a tool.  Now, as a requirement of my job, I had to take a 7-week class on how to draw blood, I teach seniors in high school how to draw blood (on dummy arms), and I can actually do it myself (not on myself, on another person).  I still can't watch the tech take my blood though.  I just stare at the ceiling until it's all over.

    I never would have thought Id talk to my parnets so much about my husbands sperm lol.

    My boss went through every IF treatment before conceiving her daughter through IVF....I have sat in her office and cried about miscarriages and she has told me the most intimate details of her experiences.....right down to her ex having trouble producing a sample.  How many people can actually get that close to their boss?

     

    I also used to draw blood.....can't do it to myself, but I have actually had to help the phlebotomists at the labs find my veins.

    I never, ever thought I could get my sh!t together and give myself a shot. It has become a necessity, but something I never thought I could talk myself into. The first one took about 15-20 of trying to psych myself up.

    BFP #1: 2/15/12-Ectopic/Mtx at 6 wks
    BFP #2: 10/12/12-m/c at 5 wks. 
    BFP #3: 8/27/13
    Me: MTHFR, Low AMH (1.1), High NK cells and Antiphospholipid Antibodies.
    DH:MFI-Low morph (1%), DNA fragmentation: Excellent!
    5 rounds of clomid, 3 IUIs, and multiple non-medicated cycles- BFFN                                                      
    IVF with ICSI in August 2013 brought us our babies.  ER-9R, 7M, 4F w/ICSI  ET of 2-Grade 2 blasts. 
    + HPT at 6dp5dt. #1 (8dp5dt)- 105    #2 (13dp5dt)- 510  #3 (15dp5dt)- 960  #4 (17dp5dt)- 1889
    Dx shortened cervix, PTL, and preeclampsia during pregnancy.  Lots of medications and 13 weeks of bedrest, babies were born healthy at 34w4d!

    Same. I also never thought that only I would have an up close and personal relationship with all things related to my cervix but also my husband. He's become an expert in all the different types of CM!

    My mom knows all about my cycle and sex life, and I now am no longer afraid to say things out loud at work like, "Yes, it's CD1 so I'm not pregnant, what's next?" or "Do we need to come in for another SA?" - without the acronyms, of course.



    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!

    Talking to so many people about my ovaries and ovulation. I never thought I would be talking to my parents, my in laws, my boss, etc about those things. Now, it is just part of life.

    Me 32 :: DH 41

     TTC since November, 2011

    DH's SA : Excellent

    Lap and Hysteroscopy June 2012

    DX: PCOS, Stage III Endo, slight Adenomyosis, blocked tube, and probable LPD

    Treatments:  6 Months Lupron Depot injections; 1500 mg metformin; 3 cycles of Clomid + TI = BFN

    3 endometrial biopsies all were "out of phase" 

    September - December, 2013:  Break to lose weight and get healthy

    40 lb weight loss but still not ovulating "in phase"  

    February - March 2014: bcps + follistim + trigger + TI = BFP

     Beta #1 (12dpo): 30; Beta #2 (18dpo): 500; Beta #3 (25dpo): 7,000!!! 

    1st u/s 4/16: One beautiful hb at 144 bmp 

    2nd u/s 4/29: hb at 166 bmp.  Graduated from RE!!

    TEAM PINK! 

    Baby girl arrived on Thanksgiving day weighing 7lbs 6oz and measuring 20 inches
