You know there's a search function, right?

I truly do not want this to come off as condescending or rude but The Bump DOES have a search function. It's gets frustrating when we have the same posts over and over again asking things that have been asked a million times. These are usually the posts where people give blunt answers that end up getting called rude/mean/snarky when in reality, we are giving simple advice that would be easily searchable on here or Google.

People can obviously post anything they want but there are much better and faster options for getting answers. And if you think you are in labor/having severe pain/bleeding/etc, just call your OB, don't waste time asking internet strangers.

    Sorry, but trying to be Captain Obvious here isn't going to change what people do. Most if not all message boards of this nature have people come on, not use search, and ask the same questions over and over. I stopped letting that get to me and just started ignoring the duplicate posts. I mean, I know people are looking for answers but if they cannot use a search engine or the search function on a website for a pretty common topic, I don't feel the need to chime in. Let the stupid people be stupid and go on about your business.

    It didn't actually happen for quite a while, it got ridiculous once the updates took place. There are a lot more new posters and much less of the people who used to contribute something worth reading. Not trying to be captain obvious, just wishing this board would get back to the vibe it used to have when it was more fun and less garbage.

    Considering the amount of turnover on the trimester boards, the stupid questions aren't really surprising. Definitely not worth getting worked up over.

    ^This is what gets me. It baffles me that people seek medical advice/diagnosis from internet strangers that:
    a) aren't doctors
    b) have limited history
    c) can't examine them

    If someone thinks that their life or their LO's life is in danger or they're going into labor, why in the hell wouldn't they call their doctor and go to L&D/ER? What compels people to post about it to internet strangers and sit around and wait for responses? It boggles my mind. 


    But yeah, it is irritating to see, for example, four hospital bag posts on the same page. Come on. But I agree with a PP - I've gotten to the point where I just ignore them. My birth month board has the hospital bag post pinned.

    I don't think I've been guilty of asking too many questions, but I tend to use the mobile app and the search SUCKS. Somehow when I've tried it I've gotten more posts from The Knot than The Bump. Am I doing something wrong?

    I haven't posted any questions either. However, since the update when I use the search engine it defaults to The Knot. I even deleted and redownloaded the app. Don't know what's up with that??

    There have actually been a lot of times where an OP didn't know about it and it was helpful so I was just throwing it out there. I still use the search function and think it works fine.

    It just gets old sometimes and like I already said, I'm probably just being cranky. What's annoying are the people who could easily use Google or common sense or who need to call the doctor.
