Curious- What do you pay your nanny for 2+ kids per week?

edited August 2013 in Working Moms
I'm now wondering what do other people pay (gross) each week for their nanny for 2+ children?
Gross before taxes are taken out or just cash if you pay "under the table".

  • If I went with private nanny would have been $750 a week but I pay a family member so I voted $450-$550.  The family discount is great

  • We pay probably a little more than market rate in a HCOL area, especially considering that DD1 will be in pre-K for 3 half days starting in the fall.  But our nanny is awesome.  She cleans every day.  She cooks us dinner if we ask her to (or if she has time during nap time).  She runs errands if needed (though I try to keep this to a minimum because I want her focused on the kids).  She's constantly researching developmental and age-appropriate activities and outings.  She's very reliable.

Above all, she's flexible.  DH has a crazy, unpredictable travel schedule that tends to come in waves.  So I could come home tonight and he could tell me that he's going to be gone for 3 days starting tomorrow.  And she'll roll with it.

We had a It's a lot of $$, but it's worth it for our peace of mind.
  • Ours is $35/day for one and $60/day for two, but she watches them at her house. I imagine that makes a difference.
