My partner and I are looking to start trying in about 4 months but want to have some things sorted/planned first. We are hoping to hear from other LGBT folks who have experience with this.
What's the best route for the second parent nonbio mom? Since second parent adoption isn't legal here, is guardianship an option without bio mom relinquishing her rights? What else should we know? The only other thing we can find is POAs/medical POAs updated every 6 months. One of our main concerns/goals is that our future kids might be able to get on her nonbio mom's insurance and the companies usually require that they've been adopted/have guardianship. HELP! Thank you!
