Ladies, today was ridiculous. To give you background, in the last 2 IVF cycles we've done, none of our embryos made it past 6 cells. We have nothing in cryo. We have had no success with any retrieval yet. The doctor that did our last retrieval (the docs switch rotation so you have a different doc for every procedure, really) asked us right away if we have any MFI, which we said not that we know of since he has really good numbers all around. I asked on here and you ladies pointed me towards having an SCSA done. So we walked into the Doc office, and she asks me if I've ever been on Metformin. Um, YES!!! You put me on it the last IVF cycle!!! How does she not know this? You would think she'd look at least look at our chart before our consult. So then we ask about having an SCSA done, and she doesn't know what it is!!!! We told her, and she says she doesn't thnk it has anything to with our issue. She thinks PGD would be a waste, too. She wants to test me for Natural Killer cells because she thinks there may be an autoimmune issue preventing the embryos from implanting. I asked her what that has to do with none of our embryos making it past 6 cells? Wouldn't that be what we want to figure out? I mean, they can't implant if they don't develop right? She couldn't answer us, just kept saying that she thinks it's an egg issue, not sperm. Ok, fine, but if nothing else, wouldn't you want to officially rule out a sperm issue? She also put me & DH on CoQ10, which is the ONE thing I agree with. I guess there's a study that is happening/happened in Toronto with women who have poor quality eggs, and after taking CoQ10 their egg quality increased. Plus, it's supposed to help wih sperm quality as well.
She said no less than 3 times how disappointed she was that we don't have anything frozen. And she wanted to point out that she thinks that by all rights, we should be pregnant by now and she's upset that we aren't. REALLY?!?!?! Gee, I'm so glad your upset & disappointed because I had no idea how to feel. Ugh. It was ridiculous. I asked when we could move forward, and she wants us on a break for August. She also wants to wait until my tests come back, but shouldn't that only be a few hours like normal? Other problem is, if they don't put me on birth control, I won't have a period on my own, so they'll have to give me an RX to take for 10 days, then I have to wait another 11 days for my period to start. Delayed for another 3 weeks, on top of the next month. Really?
There was so much more to the meeting, but this was the gist of it. So, we are making appointments for consultations with 2 other docs. Any advice you all could provide, I'd really appreciate it. I find it unreal that our doc was so completely unprepared for our meeting and didn't want to test DH to rule out MFI. Am I way off base or was this as insane as I think? Thanks ladies...

I'm bumping from my phone so I don't know your history but I will say this about the DNA frag test. I asked my RE if we should do it as DH has sperm issues. He stated that he used to do the test but found it had no bearing on success. Also, if it does come back there is an issue there isn't a whole lot you can do to fix it. Per the SCSA website DH could take high doses of antioxidants to help. You could also do PICSI but there are not many clinics that offer that. So unless you can do PICSI or are willing to use donor sperm I'm not sure the test will be worthwhile. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you all for the advice!!! I'm telling ya, it was insane!!!! Even if there's an issue, though we don't have a lot of options if there is, it'd be good to know so we could move on to something else. It just seems weird that she doesn't even want to try the test just to rule it out. I feel like we're just stabbing in the dark here...
Weekly-
OMG... Yep! I turn 30 next month, lol, and everything else is pretty much the same! At least we have someone we can compare notes with right? ;-) She put me on 600mg & DH on 400mg of CoQ10. We're going to the store to pick them up tonight & crossing my fingers this helps. Yep, I'm calling 2 others docs today to set up consultations after my bloodwork, lol. I'll make sure to let you know what we find out. ;-)
