Wesley or Alexander?

Help please.

Which do you like?
I'm worried Alexander is too common.
And after looking up the meaning of Wesley, which is Western Meadow, I now can't stop associating it with sounding more feminine.
Someone tell me if this is crazy talk (DH says yes and I suspect he is right).

Re: Wesley or Alexander?

  • I prefer Alexander, though Wesley is a good solid name as well.

I do NOT think Westey is feminine.

Okay good...I"m glad it's just me haha.

I think what's screwing me up is at first we both liked Wesley. However, Alexander was a name I had on my list that DH really started to like. I wasn't as in love with it as some of the other names I had, but DH kept dropping hints and even started calling the baby 'Little Alex'. So I kind of mentally started adjusting to his name being 'Alexander' even though we hadn't officially decided.

Now DH is leaning towards Wesley again because of Alexander being more common and he thinks he may have a cousin with that name. So the sudden change is kind of messing me up because I think I had accepted Alexander as his name in my head. >.<

  • Wesley by a landslide.  I love it.

Alexander is nice but too common, IMO.

  • I have always thought Wesley was feminine sounding    nms    I like Alexander very much
  • Alexander.

I usually don't like names that are too common, but Alexander is classic.
Wesley sounds country, trendy and a little weak.

  • vote Wesley, just not a fan of Alexander
  • Wesley, although I'm a bit biased :)

I love how it's such a normal sounding name, but it's not at all popular.

  • Alexander.

    I'm biased, though. ;)

  • The name Weston comes to mind, which I like more than Wesley, and I much prefer Alexander to Wesley. It's a great masculine name.
  • I love Wesley and the nn Wes.

Alexander is a good name too.  So really, you can't go wrong.

  • LOOOOVE both names. They're both on our short list too. Do you have another boys names you like? Since it seems we have the same taste :)
  • Definitely Alexander.
  • I REALLY love both of these names. I do think Wesley is a bit more trendy - it's really risen in popularity in the past few years and its in the top 100 - and Alexander is a solid classic, which is always popular, but for good reason. You can't go wrong.
