in Parenting after a Loss
We are trying to hire a part-time nanny, and OMG, it is so expensive to use Care.com. It's maddening. A month's subscription is literally half of what I'm probably going to spend on a nanny each week. Also, have I mentioned I'm still unemployed? Grrr. Does anyone feel like sticking it to the man (or woman) and help me in contacting some potential nannies? I will mail you some goodies and not report you to the capitalist morality police. Because seriously, I'm sure they'd really like to know where I live already.

    Hmmm. I used Care.com to find our nanny, and I don't recall it being that spendy -- but then again the overall child care spend in Chicago area is horrendous, so it might not have seemed that out of line. Good luck in your search!

    Now I'm feeling like a real jerk about not just spending $40. It's a valuable service, I'm just spoiled, coming from working for a non-profit that offered this service to parents for free. They just don't do nannies or babysitters, only child care providers and programs.

    YES. We can move to SoCal or whatever gorgeous place it is you live and my husband will get a bitchin' private sector data job and we'll just hang out with adorable CDed babies in pools.

    Thank you!! I have a couple of interviews set up with family child care providers in our area whose part-time rates are going to be cheaper than a nanny, but if we can't find someone who will work out for us, I'll definitely be taking you up on your offer :)
