Re: CPW: What is your nursery completion goal?

  • Our spare bedroom is such a cluster f.u.ck that I can't even bring myself to open the door.  I have no idea how we're going to clean it out and set up a nursery.  I dread the thought of it.

This is why I asked!  I have been slowly cleaning out our spare room and wondering if I need to pick up the pace!  I have a "before Thanksgiving" goal for completion so I guess I need to figure out a clean out goal.

  • Our spare bedroom has some walls partially opened up and so it needs to be re-sheet rocked. I want the husband to get it done by 11/9 which is our baby shower date so I can put things away, because our house is too small to have things anywhere else.

  • Since we're shifting the purpose of our three bedrooms around, if I get it started by Thanksgiving, I'll be happy, lol. My office is currently in the master bedroom, so we're moving that into the 3rd bedroom (currently a junk room). We're getting a new bed hopefully next weekend and moving into the master. The nursery will be in our current bedroom.

  • Scarlett, we're cycling bedrooms, too.  Currently the little bedroom has us and the big bedroom has storage and empty space, so we're going to move into the big one with all the stuff and leave the little one empty for baby.
  • Maybe I'm being naive, but I'm really hoping to get a lot of the stuff for the nursery at my shower (which is 11/16). So if I have everything done by Christmas, I'll be very happy.
My first goal is to clear out the room and have it painted prior to my shower so I can bring all my loot right in there afterwards.

  • Our house is on the market until the end of November. We won't get our nursery ready until after that. :(

  • We have an empty room, waiting to be decorated for the nursery. I hope we can get it done as soon as possible. We were told girl at an early ultrasound, but I will wait until AS to confirm. We will then begin to paint and buy bedding and accessories.

  • We are in the process of remodeling the entire first floor of our house. We are also having a solid 75% of our interior painted -- walls, ceilings, trim. So we can't even start the process until that is done, because we basically need the spare room to store stuff while we are fixing the rest of the house up. Fortunately, I painted the spare room a baby friendly color a few years ago. I'll just need to paint the trim in that room myself, which is no big deal.

The spare room is also my junk room/office. I'm slowly trying to clean it out. I try to spend 2-3 hours on it a week, because I also need to figure out where everything is going to go!
  • We're done as far as everything we can get done before chipping into our registry. All the furniture is set up.

  • We'll have a little makeshift "baby" area in our apartment, but no nursery until we're back on the mainland. We are going to try our best not to accumulate too much junk so we can get the smallest moving pod possible. LO will be about 6/7mos before it has a nursery space. I'm a big planner so this is kind of killing me, but I'm working really hard to stay practical about it all.

I can't wait to see how all of yours turn out though- you motivated mama's! Hats off to all of you!!

  • I'm hoping to have a majority of it done by Christmas, but I'm a late Jan/early Feb due date, so I've got some wiggle room.  Heck, baby will be sleeping in our room for at least 2-3 months after it's born, so that's even more wiggle room =).  Room is staying the current color (only painted a year and a half ago), just can't decide if I really want board & batton until we pick out furniture.  Carpet was installed yesterday, so that's one thing off my list!

  • DH's weight bench is taking up the space where the crib and rocker will be. The nursery is currently our exercise room and office. DH says he has no intention of taking it down until December. Luckily we don't have to paint that room, but it still means a lot of work for me at the very end. Curtains can be hung earlier though. I also need to clear out the closet, relocate our printer, and clear off the book shelves before December.

  • Since this is girl #2 i get to reuse all of DD's stuff and have very little to do but put up the crib. Phew!
  • My husband and I plan on starting to look to buy a house a February. So I won't put a nursery together. I am going to clear our the spare bedroom and put a dresser and changing table together and hang up clothes and such. But I won't make it cute or anything. I don't even think I will put the crib together since the baby will be in our room to start anyways.

    Its a surprise! Team green!

  • DH and I are moving to a different state / into a new home in December, so we really won't get a chance to even work on LOs nursery until December 15th. Hoping we can get the basics in there, as I know for the first little while we'll be keeping him in our room with us!
