Badges - i don't get them

I feel like an idiot but i don't understand the badges.  How do you know which ones you have? Which are left to get? Do you still have post counts?

    Nobody know what badges are out there. If you go to your account you can see it under your avatar. There is no more post count or bronze/silver/gold
