Just got the official diagnosis...CP

I'm having a bit of a rough time. We've known from the day we found out about DS's strokes that he would most likely have mild to moderate CP but it's still hard to hear those words actually applied to him. Then, to top it all off, I saw a billboard on the way home from the appointment that said "The effects of stroke are devastating". I'm lucky my mom had driven us because I just totally lost it and bawled all the way home. I guess I'm just kind of sad-ranting, so if anyone has any advice or words of wisdom that might help me, please share. I'm kind of a mess.

  • Hugs. You will get through this. Hugs.

  • Allow yourself to be a mess. Then, when you have a moment to breath, search for CP programs in your area (support groups, therapy options, etc.). If your child is not already in private therapy, start there. Everything else will come in time.
