I just got this in the mail the other day. It's labelled United States Prescription Discount card and says that I'm supposed to take it in when I get a prescription and it might save me more money than my insurance discount. WTF is it? I googled and I can't really find anything on this specifically, just a bunch of information on prescription discount cards and of course the website for this USPD place that basically says they're just trying to save American consumers money and that they negotiate rates on prescription drugs.
I didn't request the card or sign up for it. It isn't asking for my info and says that there's no activation required. It is some kind of scam? I mean, using the card will give them access to my info, right? Does anyone know what this is or why I got it?
I'm just confused. Halp?
Re: United States prescription discount card
I may be wrong, but I don't think it makes a big financial difference if you have health insurance. Next time you have an Rx, I would just bring the card and see. I got one once, and they told me it was cheaper for me by going through my insurance. (So maybe it is for people without insurance). If you have a monthly Rx (birth control or something) I would call your pharmacy and just ask, does this make my monthly rx any cheaper?
Strange, that it came out of nowhere. Did you have any recent insurance changes?
