Pregnancy Pillows

edited July 2013 in 2nd Trimester
I'm sick of not being able to sleep but can't decide on a pregnancy pillow! I'd love some recommendations. Which do you have and love?

Thanks in advance!

My main concern with the U-shaped ones is that it might take up too much room on the bed or be too confining. Would love to know which you use too.

Re: Pregnancy Pillows

  • I had a Snoogle (the Babies R Us brand) and I returned it. It just wasn't helping and I wanted my $54 back. Now I just use a regular pillow between my knees and that has been working great.

  • I saw some great pillow at the relax the back store. but if you are on a budget Bed bath and Beyond has a basic long pillow that I have been using its working so far... make sure you get the $20 and not the $10 there really is a huge difference in quality in the pillows
  • I have the snoogle and I love it! Totally worth the $45 I spent on Amazon with free shipping if you have Prime. It has really helped my hip pain and kept me from rolling onto my back in the middle of the night.

  • I bought a Serenity Star pillow from Amazon. It came highly rated and, I have to say, it's been great for my back pain. It's U-shaped, but it's squishable so it doesn't have to take up the whole bed. We have a queen-sized and it's been fine!
  • I love my snoogle

  • I used the snoogle loop in my first pregnancy and it was sooo comfy!  I just pulled it out of storage and plan to start using it again soon!  It gave support for my belly and my back...and between my legs since that seemed to be an issue for me :)

  • I've been eyeing the Snoogle, but we have a Queen bed and the cashier at Motherhood said they're large enough they work best in a King or Cal-King, my husband gave me a look... I put it back haha but next time i'm shopping solo or next time the Amazon Prime Fairy stops by... there'll be a Snoogle... and hopefully a Cal-King bed in our future too!
  • I tried dif ones but the best for me is a long regular body pillow.

I got a regular long body pillow from Target. $10 for the pillow and $10 for the cover. It's awesome! Nice and fluffy but not confining feeling. DH complains that I now take up too much of the bed, but I've caught him "sharing" the pillow with me a couple of times.

  • My birthday came as I was getting bigger. All my friends got me mommy gifts! I got the boppy body pillow. It is shaped kind of c shaped. I was worried about the hubby's space in bed, but it really doesn't take up space. It has helped with hip, back and belly pain. Life saver. I would have never bought it myself. (Not sure of the cost, I just don't splurge on myself)
  • I LOVE my snoogle! It provides enough support but still is soft enough at the same time. We do have a king size bed which I think makes a difference, a queen may be fine but anything smaller may be crowded as it is quite large. Worth every penny in my opinion though.
  • I have the snoogle and agree with PPs.  It's a pain to get out of to pee 50 times a night and takes up a bit of space, but it does help me not roll onto my back, which is actually the main reason I got it.  I don't use it every night, but am glad I got it.  I also recommend Amazon...you can save a little $$ that way.

  • I was hesitant to get one at first because of friend of mine tried them and hated it.
I eventually broke and ordered the one off Zulily because I was having such bad hip and back pain. Sleeping was almost impossible. I am very glad I ordered this because my sleeps have been better and I am not in as much pain.

The U shape pillows is big,but the side I am not using my hubby snuggles up to and its all good.
    Good luck!
  • I like my body pillow, I have tried to sleep with my snoogle and just can't fall asleep.

  • I have a Snuggle as well. I do enjoy it. While I have trouble at times getting comfortable, it is way more helpful then a regular pillow!

  • I love my snoogle!!
  • Love my Snoogle, I sleep like a baby with that thing. It also makes a great nursing pillow to give you back support while nursing laying down. It is a little bigger, but if you have a Queen/King bed you should be fine. If your bed is smaller than that then tell SO/DH to go sleep somewhere else :)

  • I haven't been able to sleep at night since I got pregnant and I'm 13w6d. DH bought me a body pillow from Walmart and I swear its from heaven. Slept all last night and then some this morning. It was wonderful!
  • I loved my snoogle with my first pregnancy!  I let my SIL borrow it and never got it back.  I am currently using a regular pillow and it is doing nothing for me. :(  I will be buying another Snoogle on Tuesday :)

  • Thanks everyone for your responses! I ended up getting snoogle and i'm so torn. Sometimes I sleep great with it and the one time i took a nap without it my hips and knees hurt so much afterwards!

Othertimes, though, it gives me such a headache! I'm not used to having my head so high up or maybe it's too stuff. I don't know.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of just punching my pillow until it gives and gets softer :-)

  • I have a $10 body pillow that doesn't take up much room.  I'm already a bed hog so anything I can do to keep my husband from sleeping in another room is good lol.

  • I bought a u shaped one with my first pregnancy and let me tell you best investment. My husband tells everyone that his wife says it is the best present he ever got me.  Now, i use it every night to sleep and since I have a back injury on top of being prego I use it constantly.  I have even traveled with it.
  • Which snoggle? total body pillow? loop countored fit body pillow? mini compact side sleeper?

  • I got the todays mom pillow (u shaped) off of amazon but im not gonna lie its bulky. Its comfy but it can get hot and my arm falls asleep a lot and i end up having to add a pillow for neck support. Its sift and i imagine it will help me more when my bellys bigger, but i cant really compare it to other ones. Its very downy and soft but the case it comes in is kind of rough. Its not a tempur pedic as i thought it might be
