Weird?

I replied to an ad for an egg donor a few days ago.

The ad specifically requested the donor be Caucasian, but I did a little detective work and it turns out the couple is Chinese.

Do you find that a little weird, or is it just me? I mean, I could see the couple being open-minded about the ethnicity of their child, but to specifically request the donor be of a different ethnicity than your own? I don't know. It strikes me as odd.

(In case you're curious, it turns out I cannot be an egg donor at this time because the meds I'd be required to take aren't recommended while BFing.)

My immediate reaction is yes, that's a little weird. I mean, I'm sure they have their reasons, whatever they are, but it strikes me as strange.

I don't know... I couldn't possibly begin to speculate as to their motives for wanting one ethnicity over another. Like, I can't put myself in their shoes to even get a feel for whether or not I find it weird.

I have heard of this before. Not to say it's common, but maybe it isn't as uncommon as we think. A lot of times in sperm donation centers, etc. they will give you a bio of the person. So perhaps some people are as equally interested in skin tone as education, etc. No way to speak to people's motives or priorities, etc. But yeah, people, in general are weird. To me, anyways!
