Bad teeth since birth?

Has anyone else had dental issues since giving birth? Someone mentioned in another thread about getting a root canal done. Before I got pregnant I had zero issues. Now  I need 2 root canals a couple of crowns and have a cavity. Does bad teeth happen with pregnancy or is it coincidental?

  • Funny meeting you here! ;) I've always had bad teeth , ( only my molars) but they got even worse in pregnancy because your body gives everything to the baby.

  • My teeth have been in some serious pain. Out of nowhere my wisdom tooth is pushing against my teeth and it feels sideways. DH says they will want to remove it, I hate people messing with my teeth. I think the wisdom tooth is just bad timing but I don't know about my other teeth.

  • I've often heard that the baby can leach calcium from you, causing dental issues.

Yea. LOs pedi told me to take calcium because it can happen while breastfeeding too. I still need to get some. lol

  • I think I am going to start taking extra calcium. This dental work is costing me a fortune!

Yes! I just spent 1300 OOP for a filling and 2 crowns.. And that is only the tip of the iceberg ! Thank goodness I have a root canal on almost every molar I have so I can stop getting the damn things! Now I just have to crown them all...

  • I just found out yesterday that I need a root canal! I don't think it's baby related, but the timing certainly sucks.

  • I just had a root canal and need 2 crowns. I get one today. These problems existed before my pregnancy. Then I got pregnant and chose to wait until after birth to take care of them. Dental work costs a FORTUNE!!!

  • Same here, my hygienists told me that it is called pregnancy gingivitis...also that in the olden days women would lose a tooth per child lol (sorry, I imagined a lady with 5 kids)
But yeah, I'm supposed to have a root canal done & a cavity too..and I had good teeth before :(
