What are your indulgences?

For what do you let your cravings take over? It doesn't have to be food related.
My number 1 indulgence is Lays plain ruffle potato chips. They are just sooo good. Salty, greasy, crunchy. What more could you ask for? If I buy a bag they'll be gone the same day.
Also, hot showers. Especially the first shower after a long camping trip. Ugh. Makes my skin tingle just thinking about it :)

Re: What are your indulgences?

  • I eat all of the lactation cookies. All of them. Ok, it's actually about 3 or 4 a day, but I tell myself I'm doing it for DD. :P

  • I agree with the chips- they are addictive. I am also a big Nutella fan. I'd be lying if I said I don't eat it with just a spoon from time to time.

Non-food indulgence: pedicures. I couldn't care less about my fingernails, but I love pampering my feet. Especially since 10 months out of the year I wear sandals.

  • Anything with an excess of melted cheese, I don't stand a chance against, haha. Wine, of course, which we have talked about in detail on the board before. As far as non-food items, I love all day pajama days. When DS was a newborn, people sort of expected it and it was understandable. Now I have a much better handle on things, but some days if I know we aren't leaving the house, I still say in my jammies. I justify it by saying: 1. I am going back to work in two weeks so those days are numbered anyway. 2. DS is still sort of a more than average spitter, and things can still get messy fast around here.

  • I'm on the rag right now and all I want is chocolate, a glass of red wine and a warm bubble bath. Sadly none of those will actually happen. Well maybe the glass of wine after kiddo has been passed out for a couple hours ;)

  • I crave swimming in a pool! It's the number one thing I miss most about living in California. Outdoor pools are not that common here in Calgary. We're taking a trip with DH's family to BC in a few weeks and my only request is that I submerge myself in a body of water. I would give up chocolate for life to be able to swim on a regular basis. Outdoors. In the sun.

  • SingingSea pretty much described all my favorite things! Just add froyo to the list. Hubby and I are addicted to the self serve places!

  • Yes to the wine! I was going to put it on my list, but figured it's kind of a given for the feb 13 moms. :)

  • Ah chips are my food weakness!
But I love taking lo on walks and running whenever I have free time !
  • Right now peanut butter! Dd is mpsi so there is so much I can't have. When we have bananas I melt mpsi safe chocolate chips and peanut butter and dip my banana in that! I tell myself that I am eating my fruit, right!
Also I second the long hot shower. I flipped out on dh last night and told him I have to have at least 3 showers by myself a week. Trying to shave my legs with dd sitting in the Bumbo and ds using her and my feet as bumps is not easy!

  • Pretty much anything chocolate - lately it's been those Little Debbie Swiss Rolls.  Also, Diet Pepsi.  It's an odd addiction but I love some when I'm really stressed or past my limit.  I don't drink alcohol so I gotta have something.

Non-food-related...a good TV show.  Better if it's a guilty pleasure, like Chicago Fire or Nashville.  I'm watching Breaking Pointe right now and besides the short kid's malfunctions, I really love it.

  • Food: ice cream!! Thats nothing new though...
Otherwise: might sound weird but when I can get away I love taking my favorite book and going to the gym for a long time. Getting lost in a book while getting soaked in sweat makes me feel refreshed and like my old self.

  • Singing!  I sing in a competitive women's barbershop chorus and we travel around North America for competitions (this year it's in Honolulu and DH and DS are coming with me).  At rehearsal i feel like my old self and I get such a thrill from singing at a high level.

For food, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.  I started buying them when was BFing and just kept buying them...

  • Food: ice cream

Non-food: right now it's watching United States of Tara on Netflix (again... for the 3rd time...) and reading Game of Thrones.

    And, oh God, coffee.
  • My food indulgence is ice cream. I would probably eat it everyday if I could! Other indulgences include hot showers/baths, back massages, and reading a good book.
Ah, a massage. That sounds awfully good right now. Too bad DH doesn't easily agree to giving back rubs, and a professional massage would cost money that I can't really justify spending :(

That's awesome! I wish I had the courage (and the voice) to do something like that. Good for you! Have fun in Hawaii.

  • Coffee, margaritas, and chocolate milk -- not all together!

  • Watermelon, skittles, cupcakes Other: massages, naps, shopping for DD
  • I eat chocolate almond butter by the spoonful! I keep it in the fridge so it becomes sort of fudge-like. I only let myself buy it once a month because the jar is gone in about 5 days.
    image
  • Drink: red wine! I can actually taste it now, I am craving it so bad. But DH is a recovering alcoholic, so we never have liquor around. Normally if I want a drink, I'll get a ladies night with my best friend but she is working nights right now and I just can't justify wine at 8 am when she gets home.

    Food: something salty

Anything else: sleeping past 7am without interruption. Oh, also sleeping without a bra on! Thank you leaky boobs...

  • Food: Cadburys caramello bars. Yum Yum Yum!! I can only find them at the grocery store around here and I have tried to become more efficient and making a list and getting everything I need for about two weeks so that I am not constantly tempted to buy more. Of course produce only lasts but so long so I end up buying some at least once a week sometimes I hold off to every two weeks.

Non-food: I agree with a nice long shower. I normally jump in during one of Addies naps during the day but its just not long enough because I have so many other things to accomplish while she is napping.

  • I love chocolate. I used to only eat in once a month and then I got pregnant. I've put a dam on my new found sweet tooth but I have to have chocolate practically every other day now. My favorite is the R-rated cake at Fido (any other Nashville moms know what I'm talking about?) it combines two favorite indulgences, chocolate cake and beer; a dark chocolate porter cake with a super dark chocolate granache, three layers - its like having three slices of cake.

Red wine is a given for Feb13 moms.

I second the pedicures and baths as well.
I haven't had a bath in ~16 months. We've been living in places with shower stalls only or bathtubs too gross to fill :(. The closest I got was when I *tried* to have a birthing pool. I tested it out two weeks before labor and labored in it a little on the big day. It was awesome but our apartment is too small to keep it going whenever I want.
I had my last pedicure four weeks before DD arrived. Maybe the reason I need chocolate so often is because I am neglecting my non-food indulgences! Food for thought.

I also like getting out. If I can get out and about on my own or with DD for a few hours I feel so much better than just sitting at home. I like to get dressed up - casual but nice - and just go anywhere, window shopping, grab a coffee, library, etc.
