Third-Party Reproduction

Intro. Questions.

After my DS was born in 2011, I started researching surrogacy companies and working on my application. January 2013 I received my second no from a company. I decided to put my search off for a bit to try and find other options. The only reason I was declined both times was because I said that I could not terminate, no matter the circumstances, and let that decision be made by IPs. DH and I have since decided that we want one more child before we are done.
I know that my feelings about termination will not change. Do you think that I will ever be accepted into an agency?

Re: Intro. Questions.

  • I know little about surrogacy agencies, however, I would look for an agency with a religious affiliation (if there are any out there).  Such an agency would attract like-minded IP.

  • I'm surprised you are being denied if you are saying that decision needs to be made by the IP. The two agencies I'm familiar with in my area do not have religious affiliations, but also do not deny intended surrogates soley for that reason. They would just make sure to match you with intended parents who feel the same way. I do agree with PP though...looking for that affiliation might be beneficial. You may also be able to work with a fertility clinic and forgo the agency altogether. It might be worth contacting clinics in your area to see if they know of intended parents looking for a surrogate.

  • No, I am being denied because I cannot guarantee that I could let that decision be made by IP, sorry I re-read my OP and it is a little unclear.
Thank you for your help, I will start looking into fertility clinics. Maybe I can find something local. The two agencies I've applied at we're in California and Chicago and I'm in Texas.
  • Did you apply to the CSP? They won't outright reject you for not wanting to terminate, but they do only accept a limited number of women who won't terminate. They originated in California but I believe have multiple offices now around the country.

  • Yes. That was the first agency I applied with. Conceivabilitis was the other that declined me this year.
