Convertible Carseat for Taller Kids

I'm prepping for buying a convertible seat for my son, he's just now 5 months old but he was 27.5" at his 4 month checkup and my Chicco Keyfit30 is out the door in 2.5" so I want to be prepared.

I had the Graco MyRide65 for DD years ago, liked it but it went to the grandparents so we will need to buy a new one. I have seen the new Chicco convertible and had pretty much decided on that, but then I wavered trying to decide if there was a better option. Not that I believe that the price of a seat coincides with it's quality, but I stretched to the max when I bought the Graco years ago; now if the seat warrants it I can spend a bit more so now there are more options.

Thanks for any advice you can give- I'd also like to be able to keep him rear facing for at least two years- so I'm thinking at least 30-40 lbs rear facing, and like I mentioned, I'm totally expecting him to be 38-40" by then (we make big kids...).

The Nextfit is a great choice for tall children.  It's one of the tallest seats on the market currently.  I have heard you can get it for 20% off with a BRU coupon.   Other less expensive options would be the Graco Headwise/Size4Me/MySize 70.  They are all basically the same seat with different names.  The Diono Radian is also a great choice.

  • DD1 was also 27.5" at 4 months. She was 38" at 2, 41.5" at 3, and 44" at 4. So far DD2 isn't quite as tall; she's only 40.5" at 3. She's rear facing in a Graco MySize and Diono Radian. Both should get her close to 4 years rfing.
