Do you have any familly or relatives in the area?
I had to go back to the work after my six week maternity leave. So we got a part-time nanny from care.com, and then our inlaws came in for two days a week to watch our son. And then when he was 3 months old, we put him in daycare.
Daycare can be expensive for infants, depending on what area that you live. But it was good to have a set monthly rate, and if there is always someone that can watch your baby as a backup. But it can leave you scrambling if their a snow day or if the baby is sick. I found it was more work to coordinate two kids in the morning. And the pickup was a little crazy, but I survived. I think for me it is just finding someone that you trust with your infant, and sometimes spending the money is more important for your peace of mind when you are at work.
With the nanny, we were just trusting that she would show up, and it worked out. And we were paying her $10/hr. We recently had to get a backup nanny for a couple of days for our kids from care.com, and we paid her $15/hr. It can add up with a nanny, because they are paid hourly. And I figured out the tax paperwork for the nanny. But it was easier for me to just pay a daycare a set monthly rate.
