Hi everyone! I am currently 41 weeks 4 days and went in for a NST today, hoping to get my membranes swept. I had an internal and was not dilated at all, hence not being able to have a sweep. I am 60% effaced which is encouraging, but was hoping to have made a little bit of progress being that I am now scheduled to be induced on Friday morning (exactly 42 weeks). I am hoping this baby decides to make it on his own in the next 2 days but I'm just feeling so discouraged. The plan is to start w/ a foley tube Friday morning, then move on to Pitocin if all else fails. I am just upset that I may not be able to labor at home and have a low intervention birth like I had hoped, but I guess it's out of my hands. Anyone been in a similar situation and have baby miraculously make his way on his own? Thanks in advance.
Re: Need encouragement
There was a post a few days ago about people who have been induced but avoided other interventions (like myself) try searching for that. I would also recommend going ahead and getting in all "natural" forms of induction right away - check w your provider, but I tried castor oil, nipple stimulation, spicy food, walking, sex, black cohash, etc. Worth a try!
ETA: acupuncture and chiropractor adjustment can help too; just be sure you're seeing practitioners who are familiar with labor induction methods in these areas.
