Any advice on moving up bedtime?

My baby is almost 4 months and he goes to bed at 10pm every night. I would like to see if I can get his bedtime moved up a bit earlier so my husband and I have a few minutes together in the evenings. So far each time I try to put my LO down earlier he cries and will not sleep. Any advice on how to move up the bedtime?

Success!!! Just wanted to update everyone that I finally moved the bedtime up to 8pm which is perfect. After reading everyone's responses I realized he was tired earlier and we would keep him up even though he was really cranky. Now he seems much happier and my husband and I finally have some time together in the evening. My next task is to get him to take naps during the day since his max nap is 20 minutes total for the day.
