High-Risk Pregnancy

Low blood flow via Doppler

Since my 20 week soon, I have been monitored closely due to hyperechoic bowel (gone at 32 weeks) 28 weeks found dilated loop of bowel (35 weeks getting smaller) At my 35 week checkup, found that there was low blood flow from placenta so I now need to be seen twice a week with sonos and nst to make sure baby is not distressed. Anyone else even through this...what were the outcomes?

Re: Low blood flow via Doppler

  • Have you had any growth ultrasounds to see how the baby is progressing?

  • "Low blood flow from the placenta" sounds very concerning.  And you are already more than 35 weeks, so pretty much in the safe zone.  What is their plan?  I would be asking about checking for lung maturnity and considering early delivery.

  • They have been doing growth ultrasounds since my 20 week sonogram bc of the other issues. Baby has always been small, but growing (4 lbs 8 oz at 34 weeks). DD1 was only 6lbs 2 oz at birth (39 Weeks 1 day).

I am currently 35 weeks 2 days. The only plan the dr has is to make sure that the baby is not under distress so I have to come 2x a week to check blood flow on sonogram and have NST

  • We've been dealing with this with one twin. I've been having BPPs, NSTs and dopplers twice a week since 25 weeks (I'm 30 now). It is all about monitoring and deciding when they are better off out than in. Luckily, our situation is stable for the moment but my understanding is that things can deteriorate quickly.
