Sippy issues

My son made the switch to sippy cup quite well. We slowly switched him. Now he only gets a bottle at night. However for the past 5-6 days when he drinks his sippy he makes a mess. Has milk all over his face. I haven't switched the type of sippy and he never had this problem before. Did any one else have this problem? He is teething could it just be the extra drool (he is like a baby St. Bernard right now). Should I try a different type of sippy? Tips or suggestions please =) thanks!

Re: Sippy issues

  • If it has a leak-proof valve of some time I'd check that first.  Sometimes if they wear out or get put on slightly wrong and they can make a mess (or, you know, if your husband completely forgets to put them in the cup, not that that's ever happened here).  He could also just be sucking harder as he gets used to the flow and so he's getting more milk out.  If you want, try a different type and see how he does.  GL!

  • My daughter has done the same thing on and off since we switched from bottles to sippy cups. I have noticed it only happens when she is teething. She chews on the spout in between drinks with a full mouth of milk or water and it ends up everywhere. We have a few types of sippy cups and she does it with all of them. You can try another one. Maybe your little guy will stop then or it could just be the norm while he's teething. :)
