Baby Shower?!

Ok so I know it's still really early for me to be thinking about this (I'm 11 weeks along now). But I don't know when I should have a baby shower. It's ALL my mom talks about. Since I'm due end of February should I have it mid December or the second week of January? I know I know it's waaaaay early on. But my mind is running a million miles per hour. This is my first baby.
I realized today it would be hosted near Christmas (either after or before) and I feel bad. I don't want people to feel strapped for money. But to be honest most of my friends and I don't even exchange Christmas gifts. I'm afraid I'll be asking too much of people. I hate being a burden. Ugh.

    Baby showers are supposed to be a gift. Dont host your own its tacky and gift grabby. Leave picking the date up to your host

    I'm not hosting it as I stated it's my mom talking about it. But I know she is going to ask when it should be that is my question. I feel like it imposes on Christmas because I am due in February. I know enough about bridal and baby showers to know I don't host it. But I need to know is it tacky rude to have it before Christmas or after?

    I'm not due until Nov. but a friend of mine is throwing me one last this month. It's kind of early since I will only be a little over 26 weeks, but that's when she wanted to do it. If invites are sent out soon enough, people can plan for it.

    Hmm. Ok. So it's also not taboo to have it before 34 weeks? If I had it my way I'd skip a baby shower I feel awkward at things like this. But my mom is insisting. And I love her it will be her only grand baby.

    No, it's not a big taboo to have a shower before 34 weeks. Usually it's done around 32 to 36 weeks, because you don't want to wait too late and be miserable or risk going into labor in the middle of your shower. Having a shower a little earlier than that is not a bad idea either, especially if you're high-risk.

    My cousin just had here at 27 weeks, mostly because her mom wanted to surprise her and she's nosey. I'm having mine at 31 because that works best for me. Ill have plenty of set up time and time to get whatever else i beed post shower. My mom was totally flexible with the date.

    At my cousin's I was 22 weeks and everyone was nagging me about my date, so I think any shower time is fine. Whatever works best for you and your mom.

    If I was due in feb. I might aim for January though. People have a lot of family obligations during December and its tough to find a weekend that would work I imagine. Plus, in January people might be able to catch after Christmas sales.
