Preschool HELP!!!

My son has been at the same day care for three years now. The owner recently retired and sold the school to a really young girl who inherited a lot of money. While she does have a degree in child development and experience, I think she is a total IDIOT. She is making too many changes too fast! Today I walked in to drop my son off and found his classroom almost empty. My son asked me what was wrong and the heartbreak in his face and voice almost made me cry! Imagine your child walking into a classroom with bare walls when they are used to seeing all their art on the walls. Two teachers have quit so far and today the director was terminated. One of the teachers that quit was supposed to be my sons pre-k teacher this upcoming year. They have hired a replacement but it is so hard for me to trust the new owners judgement. There has been talk of enrichment programs like science and spanish, which would be great but these are coming with extra "material fees" that I will be forced to pay, or leave. They have already raised the tuition and are making us all pay a yearly registration fee. I want to email this new owner girl but I'm not entirely sure how to word it. Changes are good, but the kids are acting out because they are stressed! I was in love with this school and all the teachers and parents. I dont want to switch schools!

Re: Preschool HELP!!!

  • I'd hightail it out of there, and let this girl know why.

  • You were in love with how it used to be and it's obviously changing. I would switch.

  • I would skip the stress of sticking around and dealing with this girl and find someplace else that is much more stable. If it was a particular teacher you liked or felt had it "together", perhaps find out where that person is now teaching and explore from there. Your LO will likely be much happier in a warmer environment.

  • Go somewhere else.  The new girl clearly has no business sense yet and no real world experience to understand why making drastic changes all at once is bad for pre-schoolers, who thrive on routine and stability.  New management can be a good thing, but when it's this hard, it's not worth sitting through the pain.  It can take a full year before things settle out with a new manager/owner.

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
