Hi All....
My son is 8 1/2 months old, and seems to be always constipated. He grunts, gets bright red, pushes with all his might, but only gets out a pebble, or a small harder "tootsie roll." He is breast fed, he gets jarred foods a couple times a day. I have tried everything... stopping cereal, taking a rectal temp, q-tip with vaseline, no banana's or other binding foods, prunes, prune juice, other juices, pressure points, tummy massage, water, warm baths, karyo, I even tried milk of magnesia for a day (peds nurses suggestion)... I have no idea what to do for the little dude. He seems fine during the day, no pain, his tummy isn't hard, its just when he's pushing that he seems to have issue.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can give us!

Re: Chronic Constipation
It sounds silly, but I was half tempted to even try taking a stool softener (they are safe to take while BF) in hopes he gets some of it in my breast milk. I'm desperate!

I stopped all solids except apples and am trying to encourage BM and water. He had a softer poop today... Knock on wood that it's working. I hope your little guy gets some relief too!
