Congenital Vertical Talus (AKA Rocker bottom feet)

My son was born May 19th, 2013 with this deformity on both feet. Thankfully it is an isolated case and nothing else is wrong genetically. We have been to the orthopedic surgeon and will begin casting Oct 1st when he is 4 1/2 months. We will do 3 sets of casts 2 weeks apart. Then surgery. Does any one have experience with this on a child so young? Everything I can find is children that are 1yr+. Any advice or suggestions? Also after surgery they have not mentioned any other treatments, is this normal? I'm trying to be as informed as possible so we can get an idea of what to expect during the casting, surgery, and post-op. Thanks!

I don't have personal experience, but I have a friend who's daughter had this along with a couple other issues. She is about 22 months now. She did have casts roughly your son's age. She did very well and her feet look great! She is having some issues with walking currently.  Her knees are constantly at an angle. She is unable to get her legs straight due to how they were positioned in the casts. She will be doing botox treatments to deaden her hamstring muscle to reteach her how to stand using her calf muscles.
I am sorry I don't have any other information, but I would absolutely recommend doing all the suggested therapy and more. Be very diligent in doing the therapies at home so the transition goes as well as possible. Good luck!
