Breakfast

DS will be 1 this month and is moving from infant to the "one year room" what kinds of breakfast do you feed your toddler? He's gotten toast, bagels, pancakes, eggs, fruit, and dry cereal so far. Toast and bagels are easy enough but I'm thinking I don't have enough time to cook. What are some simple breakfast ideas I can feed at home or send to daycare?

Re: Breakfast

  • I make a batch of mini muffins and freeze them. DD also likes infant oatmeal mixed with applesauce. She is dairy intolerant, but yogurt is a good option. She sometimes just eats half a banana.
DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

  • We do what you already listed plus yogurt, muffins, zucchini bread, cereal bars...
  • frozen French toast and pancakes are your friend.  just take them out the night before and put them in the fridge.  they'll defrost by the time your LO gets to school.

  • I like to do a scrambled egg in a coffee cup in the microwave. It's ready in about 1 minute and I usually give her a cereal bar with it.

Other breakfast options w do a lot are English muffin with almond butter, plain oatmeal w fruit, and she loves fruit smoothies.
IVF, acupuncture, meditation and a miracle.

I'm going to attempt smoothies this weekend and see how DS does with them.  But, honestly, he has the same thing for breakfast all week - yogurt, fruit (usually blueberries) and some sort of dry cereal, pancake, muffin, etc.  He loves yogurt so much that I guess I don't feel bad mixing it up.  When we're home on the weekends I'll do cheesy eggs, toast and fruit.

  • Thanks for the ideas!!

We also have cheese toast (prefer American cheese--others get rubbery if they sit while we get ready).  If we're running really late (and he's hungry and can't wait), my LO can eat it in the car with little mess (he's 22 months old) then I'll send a banana or fruit cup for when he gets to school.

Kashi cereal bars are my favorite.  My daycare also gives nutrigrain occasionally for snack.

  • yogurt, fruit, biscuit with jelly, applesauce, french toast sticks, sausage, bacon (meat cut up, of course)
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I like to make mini quiches on the weekend using a muffin tin. They reheat well if you eat them within 3 days. I also like to make and freeze several varieties of banana bread, muffins, etc and let them thaw overnight in the fridge.

If your kid likes them, hard boiled eggs are a quick easy breakfast. You can boil a few once or twice a week in the evenings while getting ready for bed.
