My kid hates grass

What's up with that?  I took her to the park this weekend for her 1 year pictures and she screamed the minute I set her on the grass.  Anyone else have a bebe that doesn't like prickly green stuff?  It was really frustrating and I got zero pictures.

  • You are not alone.   Anytime you attempt to put her down, she bends her legs up.   If you get her to stand she holds one leg up and gives you the ultimate pout face.    I sat her in the grass once and she toppled over and had an epic meltdown . . . you could have heard her screaming three streets away.   Luckily as soon as she is picked up or the awful grass is off of her she is happy as a clam.

Recently, I have been putting a big blanket down and she will wander to the edge and grab a piece but she still doens't care for it.  She took two little steps off the blanket one time to get my shoe and give to me but that was it.

She also hates having any sort of food left on her hands or face once she is done eating.    She rips her bib off wipes her face and holds her hands out like "hey you, clean my hands NOW!"

  • DS was like that too at first. It took some exploring from the edge of a blanket for him to finally enjoy it.

Our lo was like this too until about a week ago. You are not alone!

  • DS makes a horrible face at me when his hand or anything touches the grass. It is sort of funny actually..

  • I agree with letting him explore the grass on his own terms from a blanket. Our kids took a little bit to warm up to it but now they love it. Same with sand and the lake. It just takes time. Good luck!

I also hate grass. It's itchy! Jayson just wants to eat it. Gross.

Speaking from a very real fear of all things creepy crawly, bitey, pinchy, stingy or parasitic! :bz
