Freezing milk

Can I put refrigerated BM in the freezer? And can I put it in ice cube trays? If so, does it need to be covered?

Re: Freezing milk

  • I always put milk from the fridge in the freezer. Most of the time I don't have enoughmilk to fill a freezer bag until I pump twice and I want both to be the same temp. I wouldn't put millk into ice trays, especially not covered. Why do you want to? They make super handy bags that can freeze flat and have been sanitized.

  • They also sell breast milk trays which have covers. I've seen them at BRU.

BM is good in the fridge for 3-5 days, but I usually immediately freeze whatever I don't plan on using right away.

I've seen it as a suggestion but maybe it was for baby purées.
  • I will check it out! The bags can be awkward when thawed and transferred into a bottle. :)
