Itchy Pits

So, I realize that this problem is completely absurd and possibly not even related to my pregnancy.....but a couple of months ago my armpits started getting really itchy! I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem or if I have just hit a whole nother level of crazy.

Re: Itchy Pits

  • I had this happen about a year ago and it's so annoying!! Stop shaving for a few days. Then make sure you use a razor that's new. Any kind of dullness and i'm right back to itchy. Also I had to switch deodorants. Now all I can stand is Dove. I used to be a Secret girl.

  • Hmm...do you need a new razor?? Or have you tried changing your deodorant? Or have you changed soaps/laundry soaps lately??

  • Same razor, soap, and deodorant. Maybe I'll have to switch something up.

  • I would try that and maybe some hydrocortisone cream maybe in the evening after you shower.

I had this in college. Now all I can use is the hypoallergenic versions. Dove is all I can find as of late :(. I hope yours turns out to just be a dull razor issue!

  • I had to switch earlier in the pregnancy to Dove-- it seems to be the only one that doesn't cause itching.

  • I switched to a natural deodorant. I use a roll on by Kiss My Face. It took my body a week or so to adjust to not having all those chemicals but no more itchy pits. I feel like the aluminum that was in the other stuff (secret) was clogging shit up.

And I don't stink. I carry around a thing of Toms Lavender Det. in my purse in case I feel less than fresh but I never actually smell.
  • This happened to me too in the first tri. I tried switching to a natural deodorant...still didn't work. I had to go without for a long time. (Gross I know but I didn't smell at least)

  • I've been using a very small amount of coconut oil for the past week, and literally have had no smell, no rash, no nothing.  I was hesitant to switch because I've been having major hot/sweat flashes lately and have had smelly pits this pregnancy, but I switched and love it.  I should also mention I decided to start last Saturday when we went into New Orleans for the day and it was hot as blazes and I didn't smell at all!  DH confirmed.  :)
