Breast Augmentation and Breast Feeding

I had breast augmentation prior to becoming pregnant, and my breasts are now deformed (capsular contraction).  I am still breast feeding with no intentions of stopping early or having reconstructive surgery ( I do want more children).

Has anyone else had any problems related to breast augmentation and pregnancy/breast feeding.  I am just looking for other women to relate too, It is difficult to look at myself or imagine my breasts ever being sexualized again.  It is also upsetting to know that I had a cosmetic surgery to feel more confident, and now must hide behind supportive undergarments.

Re: Breast Augmentation and Breast Feeding

  • I had a augmentation done but its been over 7 years I've had no problems with breast feeding. I'm sorry I have no advice but I just wanted to say I am sorry that you are going through this and every woman knows what it feels like to want to change part of her body, good for you for putting your babys needs first and when your done bf you can get them fixed if you need too. Keep your head up

  • I have scars on my breasts from surgeries and luckily I can still bf, but it was hard to see the scars. Luckily my SO is very supportive and gives nothing but compliments. I hope you're able to accept your changes as well!
  • Thanks for the support.  My husband is very supportive, and feels badly this has happened.  I wish I had never had the surgery, but can't go back in time.  I know I'll be able to get them fixed in a few years, just am frustrated and a bit angry I threw away so much money for beauty.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your capsular contraction.:( I had a breast augmentation 4 years ago and I knew I wanted to breast feed and that was the reason behind me being so hesitant about getting them. When I found out I was pregnant my dream was to breast feed. Well thanks to my implants I barely produced enough milk for my daughter and ended up supplementing and eventually stopped BF altogether. I only lasted about 5 weeks and they quickly dried out, now my breast are somewhat deformed almost look deflated and i do have capsular contraction on one breast only. I honestly wish I would of never got my augmentation and could of breast fed my daughter exclusively! It's really hard for me because I feel I missed out on that special bond of breast feeding my daughter exclusively. Atleast look at the bright and positive side of things that you are able to still breast feed your LO and I'm sure later on you can replace your implants. And again I'm sorry I do understand how you feel tho. Good luck::)
