Bottle-> Cup

DD is on a sippy for everything but milk. She has absolutely refuses to talk milk from a cup. I have tried multiple different cups and she will not drink milk from them. Could she just not be ready to switch? I worked in Daycares for years and feel like I absolutely need to get her off them now. When did your little one switch? Should I be worried?

Re: Bottle-> Cup

  • I am having the same issue! She is able to drink from various sippy cups, and also from regular cups while using a straw, but absolutely refuses milk in anything other than a bottle.

    I would like to see what the responses are, because I'm curious myself.

    DD is also a very picky eater so, the thought of having her go without milk because she refuses it from a cup doesn't sit well with me at the moment.

    Just realized this isn't really an answer, more of a 'jumping onto your question'! - Sorry!!

  • We skipped dippy cups all together. We do have some with silicone tips but I really give her straw cups 98% of the time.
    DD is really getting the hang of a cup but we bought this one cup from babies r us. It's green , has handles which I think can be removed, and the whole top it like a pressure plate. They can drink anywhere on the edge like a real cup and their upper lip naturally pushes down the pressure plate giving a natural flow but is still spill resistant. Maybe that is a good transition.

    So my advice is see if your LO will drink from a straw cup and wean out sippies that way. Then try with the pressure plate transition cup once your LO is okay with straws. This will give your LO some time to be ready if they aren't ready for a normal cup just yet.

  • My LO still gets a bottle. If I put it in a sippy he won't drink it or he drinks for like 10 seconds and that's it. I don't mind having him in a bottle. I think I'll wait until he is a year and a half before I take it away. He loves milk anyway so like PP said, if he wants it, he'll drink it even if from a sippy.
