Alright Ladies! Here's to a good vent on classless baby showers and/or preg-zillas?

You know- the pregnant woman who acts like Queen of Sheba because she's got a bun in the oven!

YES!!!!

Well, since I talked about mine on the other one... I have another one but it's a bridal shower. First of all, the bride and groom registered for candy and kids hooded towels/kids pillows (like character pillows). We asked the mother of the bride if the bride was pregnant, and she was so upset at us for asking. Turns out, they registered for that because the groom likes that particular candy and character. Um, sorry we didn't buy that for you. Then at the shower (with bride/groom's parents, grandparents, family, etc), the SIL of the bride (the same girl I talked about earlier) thought it was an appropriate time to play "never have I ever" (as in the drinking game) only we didn't drink because drinking is considered sinful. The SIL's mom was at our table and decided to go first. "Never have I ever had sex with anyone other than my husband." WTF! Seriously?? My mouth dropped to the floor. "That's a little personal!" I said. I don't know this woman from Adam, and you know what she says to me?? "Well why don't you just lie then." Okay first of all, I'm sitting at a table with my in-laws, and second... for the record... DH is my one and only, but I'm NOT going to talk about that!!

My in-laws and I still laugh about that s*show.

/vent over/

Preg-zillas... I need to think. I try to avoid them at all costs!!

Ugh. Talk about in-laws, mil threw huge baby showers for daughters for each kid (5total over last fifteen years). When mine came up, since I am not and I have been told I am not her daughter (by her) she was all like, "you're having a shower?" Not sh!t! I'm having a baby, my first one. Sorry I'm not your precious daughter, but this is YOUR SON's child. Then she proceeded to make it all a out her and I just wish I could have not invited her. When we finally have another one, we might do diaper party (people bring diapers of different sizes and wipes) but I don't think it is right to have several al out showers unless there is a serious age gap- in that case it really is like starting over bc cars seats aren't good after so many years and people do get rid of stuff after a good amount of time. Like my mom had my sister 12 years after I was born. She didn't ask for a shower, but got one and that made sense- at least IMO

I agree! A serious age gap or maybe clothes if its different genders.

A diaper party sounds appropriate!

Okay- I forgot to mention my niece is getting married to BD#2 and will probably have a shower for that, too by March.

A friend of DH- Sept '08: had baby shower for daughter (daughter born still on due date), got pregnant again and had another shower Aug '09 for their son. Then he knocks up another girl after dating her shortly, had baby shower April '12 and then got engaged had wedding shower Feb '13.

So in less than 4.5 years- had 3 baby showers, and 1 wedding shower. The worse part is that the last two showers were over 45 minutes away.

All of these people register for very expensive items. One of DHs cousin's wives registered for toys that a 3+ year old would use.

Oh!! I have a good one! I forgot about this:

It's kinda a pregzilla story...it didnt happen at the shower and I was told by a third party.

So the momma to be and her hubby wanted one of those glider rocking chair things (I don't blame her they r nice!) and my aunt promised it would be her one big gift from them.

I'm not explaining the relationship week. It is my cousins wife.

Anyway- well they call said aunt from the store wanting the glider

Aunt said, I can't come this minute, lets go shopping another day and pick one out,etc.

Well they pushed for her credit card #!!!

Then when she refused - they wouldn't talk to her, etc.

And here's the icing on the cake-

They purchased the glider anyway!

So she was left to find a different gift.

My SIL had a friend who got ku by accident by her BF. My SIL said she would throw the baby shower. Then my brother and SIl got in a fight and asked if she could do the shower another weekend. This is well before the shower was to take place. Anyway the friend got pissed at my SIL and held her own baby shower. Soooo without taste. I understand it's nice to get gifts, but it is so uncouth to throw your own shower.

Oh wow!!! People are insane. I mean serious, they probably blame the pregnancy hormones, but that is bs. We didn't do that crap!
