I am not a super frequent poster here - asked a few questions and did a lot of reading. You ladies have provided some wonderful information and suggestions - so thank you for that!!
I was due July 31. Was having some contractions but nothing major. My water broke at 7:01am August 1 and contractions started up and were about 2.5-3 minutes apart only 20 minutes after my water breaking.
We arrived at the hospital, met our doula there and were checked in and within 20 minutes of being in my room i was in the tub laboring while the birthing pool filled. My 2 year old and mom were also present with DH - my 2 year old (outside the tub) was playing with cups and sharing a popsicle with me - loved those moments and it really helped me relax.
Our doula - PRICELESS. I would have paid a lot of money for her had our hospital not provided doula services with the water birth. Lots of money. Even my DH said she was amazing and he didnt really know what to expect from her.
Anyways - once the birthing tub filled, we moved over there and worked through contractions which were one on top of the other at that point.
I ended up pushing less than 20 minutes (I think closer to 10-15) - laid back once she started crowning. DH handed me a mirror and I was able to touch her head, see it, and ended up basically delivering her myself (guiding her as she came out - Drs hands were there just incase I needed help) - it was the most amazing moment to be able to do that. I have never felt more powerful than I did/do after a natural birth and being able to help with her entrance into this world. She was born 11:03am. From water breaking to delivery was a quick (for me) 4 hours and 2 minutes. (my last was over 16 hours from start to finish, with pain meds).
Anyways - thank you all so much again for your support, stories, questions - everything!!!
