Anyone?

Re: Monday Morning Vents

  • We spent a ton of money on the house this weekend, most of it planned. We are getting to the end of our renovation funds. Our stove shorted out this weekend. We were planning to replace it next year after having propane added to the kitchen. I love cooking with gas and hate electric. So now we have the unplanned expense of a new stove, and we need to decide if we get an electric and put off getting propane for several more years, or eat the cost now. Oh, and DD's christening is in 2 weeks. Perfect!

  • It's Monday and it's a perfect weather day. Would rather be outside doing something fun or productive than facing a 2 hour meeting starting in 9 minutes.

  • Just found out a training class I was suppose to take next week in NYC was cancelled. Now I have to be in NYC for three days for no reason. I am not happy about it. Why cant flights be refundable?

I think this would be pretty awesome!

  • Just got DDs two month shots. She screamed for 30 seconds and went to sleep, she's still sleeping. I'm checking it off as "that went pretty well actually".

Back to work next week Thursday. Talked to my boss on the phone this morning, she's psyched to have me back...*rolling eyes* I don't share the enthusiasm. LOL

Have to go to dentist and get filling today :(

Have to make appointments: One for massage and hair cut at the spa before I go back to work...another to put my IUD in...started period yesterday for the first time since being pregnant, gggrrrrr.

    Anniversary

  • A beautiful day here in NYC and I'm stuck in an office till 6 instead of outside enjoying Spring-like temps.

  • I'm really frustrated with my job. I'm underpaid - they've admitted it. They keep saying they're working on it. It's been two months since our original discussion regarding it, and nothing's happened. They know they've got me here for a while, because I won't find a job with the flexibility and short commute anytime soon.

Stress levels are rising here. Every day is crappy. And now I'm getting hives from the stress EVERY.FREAKING.MORNING.

I want to be positive and say how I'm going to fix this or that I'll find a way to turn my attitude around, but short of quitting, I'm not sure what to do.

  • My coworker has another case of the "I'm too hungover to come to work so I'll blame my medical condition" days. She consitently calls out on Monday mornings because she is having a "flare up" due to her illness but I know its because she's hungover and tired from partying. FYI: If you are going to be friends with your coworkers on Facebook you shouldn't post all these pictures of yourself partying and drinking. My director either doesn't see her pattern or is afraid to call her out on it due to her medical condition. Either way it means I cover her work and mine on Mondays.

  • The politics in all areas of my life is suffocating.  I suck at dealing with it and while most people can let these things go, I am extremely stressed about it.

Family politics, frenemy politics that spills over to family, and worst of all, work politics with my manager who I cannot trust, manages me with his ego, and underestimates me which results in his being painfully condescending toward me.  Unfortaunly he is master politicker so I come out looking like the a$$ anyway.  And my confidence is shot now which feels just super-duper.

I just feel demoralized all the way around.

Oh, and inlaws just moved back in to town and I was looking for opportunities to give them some 2-1 time with DD.  But DH didn't like my suggested approach to see if they wanted to plan some special time with her, instead he asks them if they want to babysit. So while he and I were planning to steal away for ONE hour for lunch on Sunday, they came back and said they would only watch her if she were awake.  I understand that they don't want to babysit.  I certainly don't NEED them to do so as we are perfectly capable of hiring a babysitter.  But due to poor communication (DH disagrees - he thinks he communicates just fine), our lunch plans were squashed and DH and I got in to a big fight. And I looked like the a$$.  I ultimately told him that I'm not giving up precious weekend time with DD (I have special activites of our own planned) and I'm not going to add to my busy plate his parent's requirements that DD be awake when they are visiting.  They are not welcome to call and stop by whenever.  We can invite them at times that are convenient for US and if ultimately that means less time for them to visit with her then tough fecking shtt.  Last time I heard I work a full time job, I'm DD's primary caregiver during the weekday evenings and over the weekend.  I'm worn out and stressed to the max and if they can't be a part of a solution then I sure as shtt am not going to add them to my plate to be part of the problem.

    Aren't I a peach?  :(

That is ridiculous. Could you say something? Not in a tattle tale way, but more like a "Jan wasn't here last Monday either, so here are my projects for this week and last"...or something like that?

I hope your Monday goes by quickly.
    Blah.

My only vent is that DH stays home w/DS on Mondays, which I love b/c he doesn't have to go to daycare 5 days, but I always feel a little jealous (and bummed) when I leave and they get to stay home and chill. But it's nice not to have to deal w/dropping off first thing Monday morning, so I'll focus on that.

ETA - and plus the weather is beautiful and I want to go the park and not at my desk.

  • It is so frustrating when family decides today- hey wouldn't it be great to have a family reunion on Labor Day weekend?  And then they get the panties in a bunch when you remind them that you live 6 hours a way and can try and come but you might not be able to make it.

    Blah.

I tried to point out her pattern to my Director but I get a very HR response back because of her documented medical condition. But one of her other Facebook friends just got a hefty promotion and I'm sure he sees the connection between partying and calling out on Mondays. My hope is eventually he blows the whistle on her because of her lack of productivity.

Thankfully my Monday is almost over

  • I've been trying to catch up on work after being out for 3 days.  DD had yet another cold, fever and pink eye (thanks daycare!).

I can't decide between going with a nanny or sticking it out with daycare.  So I'm basically teetering on the edge of an anxiety attack all stinking day.

  • My only complaint is that DH is in month 5 of a 8-9 month deployment.  It sucks.

Also, today was a gorgeous day in NC and I hated being stuck at work!

I view snark as a positive. But then I tend to agree with most of your posts.

Why can't we all be honest w/o being torn apart? Ugh yeah, b/c everyone is perfect all the time? I think not!

I cancelled a corporate flight and got a credit. Large company though, but check.
  • I have accepted a new position and waiting for the drug test and background check to go through so I can give my resignation....but until then I am still working, can you tell how freaking productive I was today, LOL

    SOOOO CHECKED OUT

  • Can I add a Tuesday vent - I love a 3 hour commute when trains and tunnels break down, they are even better when day trippers act like 5th graders out for a school trip.

And for this I pay $4k a year!
