TTC after 35

New to the group - 35 TTC #2

Good morning!

Joining for the first time...my husband and I are TTC our first together.  My first born is 7 1/2 years old now and I've been in Mirena IUD since then.  Just had it removed at the end of May.  First of all, I had no idea how bad the IUD screwed me up.  I knew that I rarely got a period, but since having it removed I have been a hormonal train wreck!  I've had two periods since having it removed and seriously I wanted to punch someone - anyone.  Also, my sex drive has been through the roof!  Any of you have similar symptoms?  Anyway...now we are trying to have a baby which is very exciting but also very stressful.  I know that I have one child already, and Lord knows how that happened.  I've never had regular periods, had been diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20's, and was on BCP when I got pregnant with my son.  Since having my IUD removed I had a very small cycle (like 4 days) and it was very light bleeding.  Exactly one month later I had my second period which was the mother of all cycles and it was awful...I tried to calculate my ovulation based on my mucus consistency and I think we caught it during the right time.  Based on when my last period started, if I am on a 28 day cycle then I should have started Monday.  I took a First Response test on Monday and it was negative.  This week I have felt very bloated at times, extremely hormonal (like I was shooting daggers through my husband for playing Madden after work), cramping, but that's about it.  I think I'm going to be starting any day now which bums me out but is totally unrealistic to expect to get pregnant that quickly right out of the gate.  My husband tells me to chill out and that God will wait until the timing is right.  But...as you all know and feel - I'm no spring chicken anymore!  I don't want to be pushing 40 having to teach a toddler to go potty!  Nightmare!  Anyway...I know so many of you ladies have been trying for MUCH longer than me and I hope that we are all fortunate enough to get those two lines on those plastic sticks.  Good luck ladies and I send pregnancy vibes to you all!

Thanks for listening...

Jess

Hi Jess, my co-worker had a similar experience after she stopped using Mirena.  Her periods were very irregular for months.  The first was very light, and the next few were very heavy and lasted longer than normal. She has been off of it for about 6 months now and her cycles are back to normal.  She was very hormonal too.

Thanks ammo (sorry...don't know everyone's names yet!), I'm glad to hear that this is somewhat normal behavior.  I'm now on my 3rd cycle since having it removed and it was about a week late, but so far is very heavy again.  Good times!
