Music at bedtime

How many of you have music going at nighttime for LO? We started with white noise and have been doing that for as long as I can remember. The other day for his morning nap I put music on instead and did that tonight too.
Any preference in your house?

Re: Music at bedtime

  • tonight is night ONE of transitioning into her crib so I did dinner then played hard then book all in living room... took her to nursery for bottle/rocking and had the music on fromt he white noise machine...... I think it kept me calm more than anything but it also drowns out any noises the roomie make.... I think i'll be trying to make it part of the routine though... wish us luck...

  • We do both at the same time. Mainly I sing her to sleep over the white noise. Marvin Gaye at the moment.
  • We do white noise. I cannot sleep well with music playing; his sleep habits resemble mine more than DH's, so I don't want to risk it.

  • We were doing lullabies and/or ocean sounds but switched to white noise. I think it blocks out more noises.

  • If there is anything for bedtime noise, it is music. I play the classical from her little night light/music thing. She doesn't always need it, but it helps when she is restless and fighting sleep.

We do white noise, mostly I think it just blocks out the noise we make at this point. He doesn't need it to sleep.

I also activate his seahorse and he's usually asleep by the time it finishes.

Same here, Asa doesn't need any "white noise/music" to sleep, but I will turn on his sea horse and he falls asleep to it. And although he doesn't technically need it to fall asleep, it helps when we travel he will fall asleep faster with the sea horse. I think it's a comfort for him because it's familiar while his surroundings are not.

  • DD doesn't like noise. I've tried the sleep sheep on every setting, her mobile, neither work. They just make  her scream and fuss more. I have yet to try actual music.
  • White noise , although occasionally fisher price light up music thing which used to really distract her but when she's overtired she will fall asleep to it. Brookstone baby sound machine blocks out whatever sound we make and I also like hearing it thru the monitor!
  • We do white noise but I also have a bunch of baby songs on his ipod (rock-a-bye baby music where they turn top 40 into lullabies).
  • Other than the noise from the humidifier, we turn on the sea horse right after 'story time' and then give her the last bottle.  Shortly after, she goes into her crib/bed after.
